Wandering cherry blossoms in Kyoto on April 3rd, 2020.
I visited cherry blossoms viewing points in the center of Kyoto with my bicycle.
I visited many places from early morning to evening, so I’ll introduce them on 2 pages.
Here I’ll introduce Hirano shrine, Honganji-sumonobo temple, Matsuotaisha shrine, Sagashakado temple, the cherry blossoms train of “Randen”.
It was the best time for Someiyoshino trees, a major kind of cherry blossoms in Japan.

I went to Hirano shrine at No.9 on the map around noon.
It was founded about 1200 years ago. It’s famous for its cherry blossoms.
The cherry blossoms are illuminated at night.
There are 400 cherry trees of 60 different varieties in the shrine, so we can enjoy cherry blossoms for long time, about 1.5 month.
We can enjoy cherry blossoms there for long time, but I think the best is the peak bloom of the Someiyoshino trees.
It was the best time to see the Someiyoshino blossom.

Honganji-sumonobo temple

- Comment:Temple in connection with a super famous monk “Shinran”
After Hirano shrine, I went to Honganji-suminobo temple at No.10 on the map.
The temple has some connection to the very famous monk “Shinran”.
It’s not a famous temple, but I saw beautiful cherry blossoms from outside so I went inside and took photos.
The monk standing on the stone is “Shinran”.
I took photos for about 5min.
Matsuotaisha shrine

- Comment:One of the oldest shrines in Kyoto.
After Honganji-suminobo temple, I went to Matsuotaisha shrine at No.11 on the map.
It is one of the oldest shrines in Kyoto, founded in 701 and famous for its god of sake.
It’s not famous for cherry blossoms, but I love sake and I wanted to visit the god of sake.
It was a good shrine.

Sagashakado temple

- Comment:Autumn leaves viewing spot
After Matsuotaisha shrine, I went to Sagashakado temple at No.12 on the map.
It’s famous for its beautiful autumn leaves, but cherry blossoms were beautiful as well.
I took photos for about 10min.
Cherry blossoms train

After Sagashakado temple, I went to No.13,14,15 on the map to see the trains running in cherry blossoms.
The trains came every 10min from each direction.

Summary
It took about 4 hours from No.9 to No.15 on the map with my bicycle.
There are not so many train stations around here, so it’s better to take the bicycle to see many cherry blossoms efficiently
There are many rental bicycle shops in Kyoto.
